For our Christmas charity donation this year, the V Formation team has voted to support Forget-Me-Notts, a local charity that supports local services by helping vulnerable children get the help they need.
This year, we have chosen to continue our tradition of making a charity donation in place of giving corporate gifts. Amid the cost-of-living crisis, we wanted to identify a charity that is making a tangible difference within the local community.
Our charity in 2020 was Fareshare, and in 2021 we chose Raise Your Hands. We asked the team who they would like V Formation to support for Christmas 2022.
Forget-Me-Notts
Our Account Manager Jocelyn proposed Forget-Me-Notts – a UK-based project (and part of Operation Orphan) that delivers targeted, practical help to ‘at risk’ children across the East Midlands by providing families with basic home necessities from beds and bedding to furniture and cutlery.
According to Forget-Me-Notts, these household essentials are not easily obtainable for families dealing with unemployment, homelessness or escaping domestic violence, where cost is an issue. The charity says that many children do not have an adequate or safe place to sleep, and that requests for beds are raised in around 90% of its referrals.
By helping to meet the practical emergency needs of the local community, Forget-Me-Notts lets vulnerable children know they are not forgotten, and plays a vital role in helping to tackle the issue of bed poverty, which can have a profound impact on the lives and wellbeing of children and their parents.
We are hopeful that our four-figure donation will help make a difference this Christmas.
