Congratulations to V Formation client, Boyds, who has been recognised with one of the UK’s most prestigious business awards – The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, International Trade for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales for the last three years.
Boyds was established 13 years ago and now employs 10 members of staff, working out of its offices in Cheshire and Cambridgeshire.
The Award has been made in recognition for Boyds’ work, particularly in supporting the development of cell and gene therapies, as well as providing the expertise and skills necessary for the international development of other pharmaceutical and biotechnology products. Boyds’ expert assistance helps to expedite the development of medicines, adding value to these products and helping businesses reach key milestones in their drug development projects.
This expertise is demonstrated by the number of medicinal products that the team at Boyds has worked on, and that are now prescription medicines available worldwide. Because of this, the team at Boyds is regularly called upon to help and support many fledgling ideas for new medicines in various organisations and companies outside of the UK.
Working in a highly regulated global industry, Boyds has grown its overseas sales by two thirds in the last three years with profits more than doubling.
Founder and CEO, Professor Alan Boyd commented, “It is a tremendous honour for Boyds to be recognised with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Thedevelopment of medicines for patient benefit is a global business, and Boyds works internationally to support the development of drugs and medical devices.”
He continued, “Our clients are located in the major markets for pharmaceutical development and commercialisation. We also work for companies and academic institutions that are located in countries that have a strong science and medical base and whose government encourages entrepreneurship to help SME development. Around two thirds of our revenue now comes from businesses based outside the UK, and we anticipate this trend will continue.”
V Formation’s Sue Carr is Boyds’ outsourced marketing consultant and has worked with the business for more than four years providing marketing communications and PR support and advice. She supported Boyds with their Queen’s Award submission.
An official event will be held at Buckingham Palace in June; and a formal visit and presentation of the Queen’s Award from the Lord-Lieutenant will take place at Boyds’ head office in Crewe later this year.
